Acne Care – The ABCs of Acne Care

Almost every teen gets acne at some point of time. Eight out of every ten teens experience it. Blackheads, whiteheads and pustules are common forms of the disorder among teens. This skin disorder could continue well after puberty. People in their twenties and thirties may also experience it. This is why acne care is something that you would really want to know about.

One should be conscious about acne care as early in life as possible. This is because acne begins in the teens and could extend well beyond the twenties, causing physical as well as emotional scars if they become severe. By the way, acne care and acne prevention are two different topics.

Pus-filled lesions on the face and the neck indicate that you\’ve got acne. Acne can also appear on the shoulders, upper back and chest. But do not panic. Although acne might be traumatic to you, it shouldn\’t cause worry because it\’s curable.

Some rules of thumb for the right acne care are detailed below:

– If you get an acne flare-up, you must become more attentive about your skin care routine. This is essential to avoid letting the acne worsen and to minimize future breakouts.

– You will experience acne irritations now and then, but you must avoid scratching or picking at them, as this will aggravate the problem. It\’s best to keep your hands away from your face.

– Keeping your face clean is of the utmost importance. Acne occurs when hair follicles get trapped within oil secretions, bacteria and dead skin. Cleaning your face properly will keep in check the extra oil and dirt that collects between the layers of the skin. Also, remember that your skin is more susceptible to dirt once acne has flared up. This calls for greater attention to clean your face.

– Creams tending to acne care are available over the counter. These creams claim to offer the best treatments for you. However, not all creams work for everyone. Also remember that you could be allergic to one or more of the contents in the product, so watch out for any allergic reactions. It\’s best to refer to a doctor before you go for acne care creams or gels.

– It is best to avoid cosmetics when you have an acne flare-up. This is because cosmetics might contain chemical preservatives, fragrances or coloring agents. Though there are non-comedogenic products available in the market today, beware of these as chemicals in the product might worsen the acne.

It\’s not very easy to abide by some of the rules. You will have to sacrifice some of your time and energy if you want to have beautiful skin After all, it is all about keeping you contented – not only physically but also at the emotional level.
